Police Officer

DESCRIPTION: Police work involving protection of life and property on campus, prevention and detection of crime, general maintenance of law and order, patrolling assigned areas, traffic enforcement, accident reporting, and criminal investigation. Must be able to analyze situations quickly and objectively, determine proper course of action, deal with situations firmly, courteously and tactfully with respect to others, and be able to react quickly and calmly under emergency situations.

QUALIFICATIONS: Within one year of employment, must be able to fully comply with the requirements for peace officer certification according to Georgia P.O.S.T. Employment contingent upon passing physical examination, drug test, psychological test, and extensive background check. High school graduate or GED and valid driver's license required. Computerized skills testing (spelling and grammar) required after initial review of all applications.

SALARY: Salary $11.30/hour (non-certified); $12.75/hour (P.O.S.T. certified), with excellent benefits package.
